Event Overview:
This class will teach you everything you need to know in order to play and run Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition games and campaigns.
A lot of people put off learning how to play D&D because it’s hard to know where to begin.
Fear not, this class demystifies the game and gives new players all the tools they need to immediately start playing with friends.
This class uses the D&D Starter Set (which you’ll receive a digital copy of) to cover the basics of the three core D&D 5th Edition rules and core books – The Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guile, and Monster Manual.
You’ll learn how to create characters, run campaigns, conduct in-game combat and spellcasting, roleplay monsters and NPCs, reward and level up your players’ characters, and much more.
The first portion of this class we walk you through rules for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition using the Starter Set. The second portion of this class is spent playing out actually D&D combat scenarios with volunteers from the class.
This event is open to ages 13 and above ages, although it’s taught and geared toward adults. Attendees under 18 years old must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Learn While You Play:
The class is structured so that you’ll learn how the game works for the first half of the class. Then the second half of the class you’ll play through D&D combat encounters with your fellow classmates using dice, miniatures and pre-made character sheets to gain first-hand experience how to play.
Please note: Food and beverage are not included in the price of the class. And the El Cid is a cashless venue, so please be prepared to use credit/debit cards or Apple Pay to purchase food and drinks.
Each Class Participant Will Receive:
– All the of digital supplementary materials you’ll need to play a full beginner’s D&D 5th Edition campaign. Including character sheets and rule book.
– A seven-piece set of polyhedral dice
– A 3D printed miniature game figure
Event Schedule:
12:45pm: Doors open, snacks and beverages available for purchase
1pm -2:30pm: Class instruction
2:45pm – 4pm: Students practice DMing, gameplay and creature battles using dice and miniatures
